Official Communication From Moosehaven & Dinner Fundraiser

Moosehaven

Official Communication A letter from John Capes, Executive Director of Moosehaven Hurricane Irma left quite a path throughout the Southeast. Irma is gone but certainly not forgotten.

She left a mess on campus including downed trees, limbs and moss. We’ve got a number of areas with modest water damage due to leaks and penetrations around windows and even through the brick. Shingles scattered about the campus clearly suggest we need to check all shingled roofs for damage.

However, despite everything, our residents are safe, services continued throughout the storm, including hot meals and a 24/7 deli and salad bar. Once again our Moosehaven staff did an amazing job. The leadership Team was on-site fulfilling various roles including damage control, hall monitors and safety and security.

The five lodges in the Florida Keys (Key Largo 2287, Islamorada 2151, Marathon 1058, Big Pine Key 1585 and Key West 1760) and several others in the surrounding areas have suffered property damage. Many Moose members in Florida have been evacuated from their homes and are anxiously awaiting to see if they are able to return.

Please keep all flood victims in your thoughts and prayers, as certainly a lot of our members in the Keys have lost everything.

Many lodges have already started collecting donations to help those in need.

Cheyenne Moose Lodge 257 & Chapter 1133 would like to start collecting donations to help all of our fellow Moose members in Florida. If you would like to donate, please contact any of the officers or drop something in one of the buckets at the lodge.

Cheyenne Moose Lodge will be hosting a fundraising benefit dinner on October 7th, 5:30-7:00pm. Join us for a Pork Tenderloin Dinner, cost $10.00.

The Florida-Bermuda Moose Association has been set up as the collection point for donations to be then distributed to the 5 Lodges in Florida heavily Impacted by Hurricane Irma.

Members of the Moose fraternity have always been ones to step up and help in time of need. We thank you for your willingness to help during this troubling time.
